A Historic Monument, Now Full of Life

Early this month, the long-awaited Winter Circus in Ghent reopened its doors. The Winter Circus has a rich history. Built in the 1880s, it was originally an indoor circus arena. It later served as a garage for cars and eventually became an abandoned and dilapidated place, waiting for a new use. After years of renovation and redevelopment, the iconic building was transformed into a vibrant center for innovation and creativity. In addition to futuristic offices, event spaces and a café, the various spaces are also used for yoga classes, gym sessions, concerts and so much more.

The architects and designers of the Winter Circus deliberately chose to integrate greenery into the design. For example, they gave the old horse feeders a new function by transforming them into unique planters, preserving a piece of history while breathing new life into it.
